Enhanced Location Services
Network operators need to be able to enhance their brand and distinguish themselves from their competitors. One way to do this is with targeted, location-based services. Redknee's Enhanced Location Services (ELS) solution allows operators to offer both 'push' and 'pull' commercial location services, such as find-a-friend, fleet tracking/management, parent-child tracker, roadside assistance and meet-me-here services.
Push location-based weather and news out to your subscribers, as well as location-relevant marketing and advertising. Redknee provides extensive capabilities to on-board these applications that significantly reduces the time-to-market for new location-based services.
Emergency Services
Redknee also provides emergency location services E911 or E112, compliant to TIA/EIA recommendation IS-JSTD-036 (August 2000), for Enhanced Wireless Emergency Services (E-911 phase 2).
Given the significant growth of GPS compliant handsets expected to exceed 700 million units globally by 2011, Redknee also provides Server Location Center (SLC) functionality, compliant to SUPL standards, to determine the subscriber's position with a high degree of accuracy.
Privacy
Subscriber privacy is of the upmost importance. Third-party location requests can potentially compromise individual privacy. Redknee ELS solution manages individual and application group based privacy, while providing access to the subscriber's location in light of their privacy preferences and the government's regulatory requirements.
Redknee's ELS solution provides comprehensive privacy management, which enables a subscriber to control the availability of his/her location information to 3rd party applications or peers, based on a variety of criteria. One of the key benefits of the Redknee solution is the ability to deliver an advisory message to the subscriber when their location is requested, enabling the subscriber to control who has access to his or her location.
Value of Location-based Services
ELS increases the relevance of services to the subscriber by actually enabling the operator to adapt these services to the subscriber’s behaviour or mode of operation. In addition, by providing a better user experience, ELS helps to create more satisfied customers and reduce the use of finite network resources. In short, ELS helps to create subscriber 'stickiness', while offering service differentiation for the operator.
Advantages to the Network Operator
Redknee’s ELS enables various location-based services while providing a high level of interoperability and extensibility to integrate with 3rd party positioning technologies (GMLCs, SPCs, SLCs, etc). ELS can also be configured to be an 'intelligent fallback' solution for other positioning methods and is compatible with 2G, 2.5G, and 3G+ based network architectures, supporting convergence and future-proofing the operator's investment. ELS provides comprehensive, advanced user privacy controls and group management support, and is a proven technology deployed in multiple tier-one operator networks.
Capitalize on the entire wireless value chain – stimulate messaging, voice and data traffic; add new revenue streams by providing unique location information to 3rd parties, while accommodating for subscriber privacy preferences.
