A More Profitable Future is in the Cloud

I was recently asked if I have seen any changes in service provider behavior in the past year due to the continued economic uncertainties. While the global economic outlook is showing signs of improvement, I see that many service providers are still, to some extent, being fiscally conservative and holding back on making significant investments into their infrastructure. This operating environment has been a major contributing factor to the uptake of new and more agile business models that are needed to manage today’s infrastructure demands and enable service providers to successfully compete with traditional and alternative service providers in the future. The key takeaway being, service providers need customer and operational agility to adapt their business for future cost savings and increased profitability.

Greater Agility and Scalability from a Carrier-Grade Billing Solution

In the past few months, Redknee and Microsoft have made a number of announcements together highlighting key milestones that have been achieved.  Since our strategic alliance was established in 2010, Redknee and Microsoft have been working towards realizing a common goal - to deliver solutions for communications service providers that empower them with greater business agility. Ensuring Profitability While Aligning with Customer Demand: Next Generation Policy Management

Driven by the need for marketing departments to provide subscribers with an improved data experience and to monetize the service provider’s network investments, we are seeing a rise in new data rate plans.  In most markets, the unlimited data plans of yesterday are diminishing as service providers contend with these increased demands on their networks. Alternative options popping up are tiered plans that charge by the megabyte or gigabyte but are met with confusion and a reluctance to buy more.  In order to go beyond basic traffic management as it is today with a network-centric policy view, communications service providers (CSPs) need to look at next generation policy management, which enables differentiated offerings, better cost control, faster time-to-market for services, new revenue streams, and a more positive and confident customer experience, says Chris Newton-Smith, VP of Marketing.
